Os anos 1930, é relembrado como a Era de Ouro das Artes pelos estadunidenses, especialmente na música. É nesse período, que músicos como Thomas Dorsey reinventa a música cristã rebatizando-a como 'gospel' - a proliferação do pai das vitrolas, o Gramofone fomentou dentre vários gêneros musicais, os quartetos vocais masculinos à capela. Popular entre frequentadores de barbearias, esse formato mais conhecido como 'barbershop' migrou para as igrejas e ganhou o mundo harmonizando  o evangelho. 

Essa magnífica coleção de 7 volumes revela obscuros grupos esquecidos pelo tempo, chamados de quartetos da era pré-guerra. A qualidade do áudio não é das melhores, por se tratar de serem recuperados a partir daqueles bolachões 78 RPM, mas merecem respeito por serem pioneiros e deixarem um legado que pavimentou o caminhos para o Doo-woop e outros meios desenvolvidos através de sua arte!
