Liderados pelo tenor e comediante Archie Harrod, eles estrearam gravando seis faixas para a gravadora Black Swan em Fevereiro de 1922, como Harrod's Jubilee Singers. O grupo já se apresentava desde 1914 e seu estilo refinado (e religioso) descende da tradição Jubilee do final do século 19 - essa coleção captada dos antigos discos 78 rpm tem lá seus altos e baixos de qualidade, isso fica claro em "Jacob's Ladder" e "Joshua Fit de Battle of Jericho", mas para compensar, o Utica Institute Jubilee Singers cumprem muito bem sua missão principalmente entre as faixas 7-24, quando durante 1927 e 1929 gravaram pela Victor Records. Foram sem dúvida, um dos melhores quartetos vocais afro-americanos da era pré-2ª guerra ao lado de Norfolk Jazz & Jubilee Quartets, Biddleville Quintette, Bryant's Jubilee Quartet, e Mitchell's Christian Singers.
